ID:INVADED Review

You were stunned and moved by the dreadful beauty of hell. Didn't you?- Akhito Narishisago

The anime takes place in a world where investigators have the power to tap into a killer's unconscious and see fragmented parts of their psyche. The Mizuhanome System is a highly-advanced development that allows humans to enter one of the most intriguing places in existence; the mind of a criminal. Kura, a specialized police squad, is tasked with analyzing these complex psychological planes to track down the culprits. Brilliant detective Sakaido assists the police by investigating the id wells and piecing together the countless clues scattered within.

Field analysts assist Well investigators using a tool called "Wakumusubi", that detects and collects delicate "cognition particles", given off by a person's intent to kill. Rookie field analyst Hondomachi becomes an important character during the series after having a brush with death in a serial killer case.

The anime follows the investigations of Narihisago, a renowned detective now in prison, who is tasked with diving into the id wells of various serial killers. However, there is a rule regarding those who enter the id wells: you are only permitted to dive into one if you have killed someone yourself. Such is the case for former detective Akihito Narihisago, Sakaido's real-world counterpart.

Two years prior to the current events, Narihisago's daughter Muku was brutally murdered by a serial killer, leading Narihisago's wife to commit suicide. These deaths prompted him to hunt down and murder the killer, earning him his prison sentence. It is shown that the majority of Narihisago's colleagues have great respect for his work. Narihisago discovers he may not have everything figured out, especially regarding those he despises most, serial killers.

ID:Invaded explores two world, one, the dreamy world of the unconscious and other the real-world of detective proceedings.

If you have seen the hollywood movie, #Inception, though they are not similar, in some ways you will understand what Id:invaded is trying to get through you. Well, what I must say is ID:Invaded is a sort of complicated show which will most likely make your mind wander. The first half of the show has so much information, which makes it rather hard to take it in, also the second half is no less. Though if you start watching this, you will not lose interest but at the same time, you will keep on expecting that the show will try to make you understand more. There are many heavy, complicated and serious dialogues which gives you great expectations.

There are lots of characters but only few of them show much importance to the story. Also the story has some direct loopholes in it. But even with all the highs and lows, it has high potential in it, its worth giving one shot. Also, the show is visually attractive. What I feel is the concept behind Mizuhanome is good but the plot could have been more engaging and there should have been more explaination regarding the character of Asukai Kiki.

#ID:Invaded is only 13 episodes long but it gives you so much to think about that it leaves a lasting impression. The last episode premiered on 23rd March,2020 and right now there's no announcement of season 2. Though season 1 has left many story plots open for season 2, so we are expecting we would get another season soon enough. If you are fan of #scifi, #crime, #drama, then you can watch this show.
